Titans claim receiver Randy MossThe Titans claimed receiver Randy Moss on Wednesday, a day after the Vikings placed him on waivers. Moss, who was traded to the Vikings from the Patriots earlier this season, played just four games in Minnesota before the team waived him. The Vikings sent a third-round pick to New England for Moss. The Titans, who had the No. 22 priority on the waiver list, were the only team to put in a claim on Moss. According to ESPN.com, citing anonymous league sources, Moss plans to report to the Titans. The website reported that if he does not report, the Titans would send him a "five-day" letter, and at the end of those five days, they would have the right to put him on the Reserve/Left Squad list, meaning he would be inactive for the rest of the season. Moss has 22 catches for 313 yards and five touchdowns in eight games this season between his time with the Patriots and the Vikings. Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt told The Tennessean that Moss "has the ability to be a difference maker for our offense." Titans backup quarterback Kerry Collins, who played with Moss when the two were in Oakland, told the newspaper that he was a good teammate while with the Raiders. "He was respectful, he was a team guy," Collins said. "I think a lot of stuff you see and hear gets overblown. The guy speaks his mind, is very truthful with what he says and that doesn't always play well. But as far as what kind of guy and teammate he is he was a great teammate and I never had a problem with him." A series of incidents appeared to have set Moss' release in motion. First, on Friday, Moss berated restaurant employees who were catering a meal for the Vikings. Then on Sunday, following the Vikings' loss to the Patriots, Moss went on a prolonged rant that included comments about how the team had not listened to his advice. On Wednesday, Vikings coach Brad Childress called the Moss trade a "poor decision." On Tuesday, the coach told Yahoo! Sports: "We want good people that are good football players, and this just doesn't fit." Shortly after news broke that Moss was placed on waivers, Titans safety Michael Griffin went on Twitter and posted that he thought Tennessee should add the receiver. The message was then re-posted by Titans running back Chris Johnson, with an added note of "me too" afterward Read more: http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/feed/2010-10/moss-to-vikings/story/titans-claim-receiver-randy- Moss#ixzz14GLcg76P | ||||||
