The five fanastic albums below are from my good friend Phibber (in another group). He knows I like the "better quality blues" artists, and the three here are certainly in that class!
Phibber sez:
This album combines three tracks from studio sessions on Oxfordshire, England in 1974; two live cuts from KZEW Radio, Dallas, Texas in 1975; three tracks from sessions with Eric Clapton and his Band on Criteria Studios, Miami, Florida 1974; and one track live from Dallas, Texas with Eric Clapton and his Band, 1976. For those of you who love the blues (Texas and Chicago style), this CD and Freddie King is for you! Freddie King is one of the most influential guitarists of his time. Truly a musician's musician! King's technique on the guitar is amazing. However, it's not his playing that makes him complete. It's his voice! Freddie sings with so much power and feeling that it sends chills down your spine.

"The Patriarch of the North Carolina blues", Big Boy Henry (from Beaufort, NC) in a joyous downhome blues session with some of his well-known musical friends. After appearing at the 1993 Lowcountry Blues Bash in Charleston, South Carolina, septagenarian blues singer Big Boy Henry retreated to a local recording studio with some of his musical buddies to record an impromptu album of Piedmont blues classics and new original numbers.

On "The Ladies Man", T-Model Ford comes off more than ever as a living testament to the sustaining power of the blues. Pushing 90 (though his exact age is a bone of contention), Ford had just experienced severe heart problems and had a pacemaker installed when he recorded the album, but to say he sounds full of life here would be an understatement. It doesn't hurt that Ford was recorded in the optimum manner to capture his real, raw Mississippi sound -- he laid down these tracks live in the studio, accompanied with just the right amount of looseness by members of his
frequent backup band GravelRoad and others, in one session, with no overdubs or second takes.

"Life's Journey" is not to arrive at the group safely in
a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting ... Holy Moly!! What a Ride!!
