This somewhat obscure live recording, which has appeared on Chiaroscuro and Early Bird LPs but not yet on CD, features pianist Bobby Timmons, altoist Sonny Red, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Mickey Roker really stretching out on five standards including a 12½-minute rendition of "Here's That Rainy Day" and a nearly-12-minute "Now's the Time." The playing has plenty of spirit although the recording quality is not state-of-the-art, making this an LP more for Bobby Timmons and Sonny Red completists than for general collectors. Recorded at a private party circa 1969-1970.
