Pot-Luck-Humor - COMPUTER TIP

To remove the names off of your desktop icons.

First, right-click on the icon from which you would like to hide the text and click on Rename.

Next, press and hold Alt and type in 255. Release and hit Enter.

Voila! Your text is gone. This is what my icon for My Computer looks like with no text:

Now this is important: You can only use Alt 255 for the first icon. You will be adding an extra 255 to each icon after that. Huh? Let me give you an example:

For your desktop:

Internet Explorer: Alt 255

Recycle Bin: Alt 255 255

My Documents: Alt 255 255 255

My Computer: Alt 255 255 255 255

After each number, release and then type in the next one. After the last number hit Enter.

Now this is just to hide the text, not delete it. So how do you get it back? Easy!

Right-click the icon that you want to add the text to and click on Rename. After you right-click the icon it will look something like this.

In the white box, rename it by typing in anything you want to. I renamed this one My Computer (I am so unconventional).

And here it is, back to its normal (messy?) state.
