This band, "The Roots", is the backup band for the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon TV show (which follows Jay Leno's show).  Recorded at the Leverkusen Jazz Festival, where this outstanding all-star saxophone repertory band made its début in 1991, this album features Roots celebrating some of the great saxophonists in jazz with memorable versions of the great compositions with which they are associated.

If there was one artistic tragedy in Mel Powell's career, it was that he never stayed with one band or label long enough to record a large body of work -- it was just plain difficult to release a Mel Powell album, because he seldom recorded an album's worth of material in any one place, and soon after the Second World War, jazz became an album marketplace. This compilation seeks to overcome that gap by assembling some of the choicest moments in Powell's career from across a five-year period, from 1943 through 1948.

Usher Raymond IV (born October 14, 1978), who performs under the mononym Usher, is an American recording artist and actor. He rose to fame in the late 1990s with the release of his second album My Way, which spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit, "Nice and Slow". His followup album 8701 (2001) produced the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits "U Remind Me" and "U Got It Bad".  Both albums sold over 8 million copies worldwide, establishing Usher as one of the biggest selling R&B artists of the 1990s.
