Morning Misfits ... i'm up & on earlier than usual ... had a tough time sleeping. I think it had to do with all the excitement last night about all of our new toys for those who are PROmisfits. I could just feel the excitement level rise as several of you began the process of setting up your new Blogs and getting them linked to your new customized Start Pages.
At the same time, i was a bit troubled. I kept stating that our larger StumpySteve MisfitsCafe bill was coming due in a few weeks. Well, it is Not. I was laying in bed thinking ... wait a minute here ... i did not start that domain until after Yahoo had jerked our old YahooMisfits.com domain for TOS violations back during Dec. of 2008. It was then, when i first started breaking loose from Yahoo by setting up our blogs at http://StumpySteve.com
That domain & website is set up on a two year subscription plan and after looking closer at my invoices, that bill is not due until Dec 15th. It is our GoDaddy bill which is coming due in just a few weeks ... which is only $400/ year. This is where most of the MisfitsCafe Dot Com, .Net, .Info, .Org, .Biz are registered and one of our websites is hosted.
Anyways, we have that covered already and i want to thank ALL of those who offered to let some of their Tip Jar proceeds help pay the larger bill. Thank You - but your funds will be left intact. As for the Blogs at StumpySteve.com ... we will leave as is for now ... but i do strongly encourage those who want to blog ... start & use the new Blogger addition that should be accessed from your MisfitsCafe.Biz inbox.
Once you are up and running with a bit of content for your visitor to see ... i will make your existing signatures point there instead. If you would rather not set up your New MisfitsCafe Blogger ... your sig will continue to point to the older blogs at least until Dec 15th or when we create you a simple profile / links page. Since each Misfit has different interest levels and i respect your individualism ... i'm leaving all of this up to you.
However, i do need to caution you about the TOS on both blogs, but especially the new MisfitsCafe Blogger which is located on Google's servers ... PLEASE make sure that any content you post is yours to post or that you have permission to post the content of another. This is not a Google or Yahoo thing as much as ICANN & Federal Law. The same goes for Adult Content. If you intend to make just one Adult Themed post ... be sure to have your blog set as ADULT.
Google does allow adult blogs, provided they are labeled that way ... so not to offend the general public. Additionally, if you choose to set your blog as Adult ... You will not be allowed to monetize your blog through Amazon, Google Ad-sense and many other affiliate / associate programs. Neither will your blog be accessible by the Search Engines ... with that said ...
... i'd like to suggest that you practice the same as before ... keep your blogs labeled as Public by keeping everything clean & legal ... while posting any of your naughty and other questionable content over at Twisted-Humor or our other adult groups. This will allow you to post your ramblings / musings to the world in a public manner while earning some extra cash from Google, Amazon & others.
I know you won't believe me here. But there are tons of folks out there who do nothing but post about the events taking place in their personal lives ... not selling a thing ... and making $1,000's monthly. Just like the Tip Jars & the new 950x monthly income program here at MisfitsCafe ... this does not come over night, but over time and only by consistently adding fresh text-based content to your Public Blog(s).
Here's a small example, then i gotta jet. Let's say that you crank up and start posting to your blog on a regular basis. After several pages of text based content ... you go to your control panel and turn on your monetize options with Google, Amazon & etc. You simply keep posting your blah, blah life story, interest, hobbies, etc. and those services that you chose to activate, will start placing small text related ads on your blog for you.
You are in control... you get to tell them where on the blog you want those ads ... so, let's say you make a post about you and your family doing a camping / fishing trip at Lake Tahoe ... you are just going on about that trip and maybe positive / negative experiences you had with some of the gear. After you hit publish on your post ... Google Ad-Sence and the others you chose to activate may place ads concerning Lake Tahoe, specific camping / fishing gear, etc.
As your unknown visitors (coming from search engine results) read your content ... they may click some of those "related" ads of interest and you get paid. How much, is way beyond the scope of this post ... but i will say personally, i was doing this from 2000 to 2005 when i had to go off line, due to illness. During that period it was very slow the first year, or so. Most page view ads pay only a couple of cents and the click-through ads around 4 or 5 cents (about what you would make delivering newspapers - lol) ...
In other words, you would need 100 page views / click-throughs to pick up an extra 3 or 4 bucks ... don't laugh now ... because this is the internet and the more unique textual content you have, the more visitors / page views ... meaning 1,000 visitors / month would yield $30 to $40 per month ... not impressed ... go ahead and figure 100,000 or a million plus. Well, in my case, after a couple years of keeping on, keeping on ...
... my monthly checks continued to grow month after month ... to where i had reached a consistent $1,200 to $1,400 every month. I hate to think what that would have led to, five years later ... but here we are again ... starting a new day. The best part about publishing your own blog ... is not financial ... but the freedom and the inner freshness you gain from voicing yourself to the world ... the money part just happens to be a consequence of that action.
Don't post with the intent of making money ... that will come naturally, simply by you being you. In other words, make your own great day. :-)
