Yesterday afternoon, my mother-in-law, Jean,
narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft she was piloting
when she was forced to make an emergency landing in a
pasture in Northwestern Oklahoma because of bad weather.
Thank God no one was with her on her flight this week.
The NTSB issued a preliminary report, citing pilot error: Judy was flying her personal single engine aircraft in IFR (instrument flight rules) conditions.
The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board.
No one on the ground was injured.
She says she lost vacuum.
Photographs below were taken at the scene and show the extent of damage to her aircraft.
She was very lucky.
