Pot-Luck-Humor - Hippocrates @ ... and the doctor said ...

Yeah Kevin, Hippocrates was a Greek physician born in 460 BC on the island of Cos, Greece. He became known as the founder of medicine and was regarded as the greatest physician of his time. He based his medical practice on observations and on the study of the human body. He held the belief that illness had a physical and a rational explanation. He rejected the views of his time that considered illness to be caused by superstitions and by possession of evil spirits and disfavor of the gods.

Hippocrates held the belief that the body must be treated as a whole and not just a series of parts. He accurately described disease symptoms and was the first physician to accurately describe the symptoms of pneumonia, as well as epilepsy in children. He believed in the natural healing process of rest, a good diet, fresh air and cleanliness. He noted that there were individual differences in the severity of disease symptoms and that some individuals were better able to cope with their disease and illness than others. He was also the first physician that held the belief that thoughts, ideas, and feelings come from the brain and not the heart as others of him time believed.

Hippocrates traveled throughout Greece practicing his medicine. He founded a medical school on the island of Cos, Greece and began teaching his ideas. He soon developed an Oath of Medical Ethics for physicians to follow. This Oath is taken by physicians today as they begin their medical practice. He died in 377 BC. Today Hippocrates is known as the "Father of Medicine".

Here are some more quotes which are accredited to him ...

Thanks Jimbob & Kevin ... and bro, i think i can sum up everything
you just said into this awesome quote by Hippocrates, 400 BC ...

"Prayer indeed is good, but while calling on the gods
a man should himself lend a hand."

... he also said something like, "Let thy food be thy medicine and
thy medicine be thy food."  For it was these two quotes that put
me onto the path of healing, using the foods we consume. :-)

Sorry I didn't mean to run into some of the things I did I was talking to someone here and typing at the same time, the conversation and opinion kinda got ran together...

I have to agree, being in touch with oneself mentally, physically, and spiritually, is the way to overcome any self inflicted problems we may have, I say self inflicted because we bring all of our physical problems on ourselves, and it is mainly due to our diet and limited exercise, So we do have to take a stand and do everything within our power to alter the inevitable...

I'm not one of the bible thumpers from the deep south, but I do have my own beliefs, they just don't fit with any of the books written by other men, my beliefs encompass all religions and then again none at all, they go beyond even my own conception of a god, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a power much greater than I out there, not in a biblical sense, in my opinion it's much more, more than any mortal man could even begin to describe, pardon my diatribe I mean no offense to anyones beliefs, however, through all of my readings of every religious book that I have ever been able to lay my hands on, and after experiencing my own death (yes I died 5 times in one night and was declared legally dead two more times since then, this part is another story in itself, one that I won't go into here but if you want to know more I am willing to talk to you or anyone else about my own experience) through all my readings and studies it came to me that we are what we have always been seeking, the god we all search for is within ourselves, there is no abstract entity no deity out there that is going to save our souls, we are and have always been the creator of our own souls, we made them, meaning they are derived from what we each feel within our own hearts, (I know now the question who's hearts feelings are more correct) I can't answer that, all I can say is that if you follow your own, you will never be mislead, if you believe, anything and everything is possible, we can heal ourselves, some say that's mind over matter, and to an extent it is, unless you factor in someone giving up, and others praying for them, that takes us to a totally different realm, one that's fed by faith alone, it does happen everyday prayers are answered, regardless of who one may be praying to, most of the time the answer is no, but sometimes it's yes...

I did not garner any of my learning's from one faith alone,I did however lean in the directions I was led by my parents and grandparents,  I was once licensed to perform certain religious functions for the Protestant and Roman Catholic Church, and I also spent a few years as an ordained pentacostal preacher, so it's not like I didn't spend a little time talking to god, I just found out he wasn't the same guy everyone was trying to make him out to be, through everything, I learned one thing, God is what you need him to be, when you need him to be...

Glad to hear it, although I'm not surprised. Many time I've seen people get well from "No hope" situations. Whatever works for you, keep it up. Personally, I believe it's mostly mental/spiritual, believing in yourself. I've seen people with the "healing touch", (Celest is one), whether they're channeling their energy, your energy or energy from the universe, the outcome remains the same. No invasive medical practice.  Funny but the ill one's usually better than before.

Well today was my 90 day follow up with the oncologist ... and he said (with amazement), "whatever you are doing, keep doing it." He didn't seem that interested in my vitamin D and nutritional approach ... other than my white blood cell count (wbc) has dropped back into the high-normal range.

Normal WBC's run between 4 and 10 ... the oncologist office shows 10.9 on their charts, as still being normal. At the first of the year my WBC was 11.2 and my PCP figured infection and prescribed some antibiotics. Didn't help, but due to her moving, i had to switch to a new PCP ... who was not interested in the WBC at that time. Anyways, long story short, my WBC was 11.8 in April and 12.6 in June.

It was then, that i was referred to a infectious disease specialist ... after more very expensive blood work ... any  infections were ruled out and i was diagnosed with the leukemia / lymphoma CLL/SLL Zap-70 positive. When i first saw my oncologist (in July), my WBC had jumped out to 13.4 iand 14.8 in Aug. When i showed up today, their office had already made plans to start some kind of pre-chemo with some kind of drug called blah-blah-globin(?) ...

... i threw a fit and said ... hey wait a minute ... you said No chemo until my WBC had doubled to the 25 to 30 range. I'm trying to beat this crap through a nutritional & vitamin D approach. So i insisted that they do another WBC ... and guess what ... it has dropped a full 4 points in a 90 day period. I had only a 10.8 WBC today (the lowest this year) ... and bet i drop even further with this diet & viatmin D therapy. So the doctor canceled his pre-chemo, put me back on the 90 day observation window and instead, referred me to having a colonoscopy. ... which I was suppose to do back in '07, but had to cancel due to lack of insurance.

I'm telling you folks ... you need to take charge of your own health & medical research and keep these damn doctors in line. There are dozens of proven alternatives out there, that the conventional big pharma docs won't discuss. So it's up to you (us). They are all trained in the mainstream methods of treatment which are nothing more than chemo, radiation & surgery .... in their world, there is NO cures. Only the treating of symptoms until they have all of your estate (or until you finally croak0.

Dr, Nair is really a nice guy ... still on the young side and not yet calloused from all the death that goes with cancer. While he refused to give me a second script for another 50,000 IU weekly vitamin D (i've got other ways for that) ... he is very much aware of the approach i am using and did encourage me to keep doing what ever i'm doing to bring my blood levels back in order.

If you, or a loved one is fighting cancer (or any disease) ... i'll be more than glad to talk to you off group about my very strict regimen ... while, i'm not out of the medical woods yet ... i've seen enough now, personally, to know that this DOES work ... if you work it. It's only a decision about living (or dying) ... and extending life with less aches & pains.
