The story goes something like this.  Some siblings sat around on the Indian reservation with nothing to do but listen to their dad's record collection which consisted mostly of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix.  So the siblings decided to form a band and called it Indigenous.  After listening to their work, it is clear that they listened to more than just Vaughan and Hendrix. 

Unlike the Seventies' band Redbone, who were a group of Latinos passing themselves off as North American Indians and even wore traditional Native-American garb, Indigenous have a more low-key, less visual stage presentation.  When I had last seen Indidgenous perform, they were three brothers and their sister.  But I think they are a trio now.  They are descendants of the Sioux Nation and the band was formed on the Yankton Reservation in South Dakota.  Vocalist/lead guitarist Mato Nanji has an easy, almost plaintive voice that can draw you in.  He also wields a fat guitar but I wouldn't call him a Vaughan or Hendrix clone.  The sister still plays the drums and is more of a player than the babe in the White Stripes.  The band puts out a solid, good sounding brand of bluesrock.  Nothing is pyrotechnic but nothing fizzles either.

Most of this collection was ripped from the CDs at 320 except where otherwise noted.
